2024 CSA Farm Share Member Agreement:

I am aware that I am making a commitment to Green Spiral Farm’s 2024 season and will share in the benefits, as well as risks. I agree to the terms and conditions of becoming a member of Green Spiral Farm CSA.

Terms of Membership

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of this CSA, who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest. Our CSA runs for 20 weeks, from July 11th through November 21st, 2025. Members are responsible for showing up at Green Spiral Farm- 819 Mad River Rd Arcata, CA- each Friday from 2pm- 7pm to pick up your share of freshly harvested produce. Variety and quantity may vary throughout the season, but will always be valued at the box size purchased ($25 or $35 per week). Please see Farm Box Guidelines for crop list and box descriptions.

You are responsible for observing our pick up site rules, which are as follows:

Return last week’s box every week. Boxes are a significant expense and their reuse is critical to this system's viability.
Pick up your share within the timeframe stated.
Be respectful of our pick up site and neighborhood.
Pick up is designated to the CSA room in the barn and the barnyard.
If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. Shares that are not retrieved within the pick-up time will be donated to a local food charity or sold at the farmers market.
ONE “makeup share” will be available on December 5th, 2025. Please give us at least 48 hrs advance notice from the original pickup time. Useful for planned vacations, events, etc.

Food Safety

We take the safety of your food seriously. Our practices are certified organic. We sanitize all harvest equipment regularly and all staff are well trained on food safety practices. For your added protection, please wash produce before consumption.

Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity of produce, however, may vary from week to week, due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in some weeks.

Payment

By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seed and equipment before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment. We have a payment plan available if needed. The member may pay half of their share before May 1st, and the last half before September 1st.
